The Terrace is a breathtaking wedding venue and event space nestled in the heart of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne. Overlooking the serene ornamental lake and manicured gardens, The Terrace offers an unforgettable setting for weddings, engagements, and milestone celebrations. The centrally located venue is ideal for hosting large events and receptions, comfortably accommodating 150 to 350 guests.
Whether you’re planning a romantic garden wedding or a stylish event, The Terrace is perfect year round. With a blend of covered outdoor spaces and a light filled indoor reception area, it allows guests to enjoy cocktails and canapés al fresco before transitioning into the elegant event space for the main celebration.
Twelve years ago, Nathan and Michelle met online as university students and bonded over their mutual passion for sports and outdoor adventures. From their first movie date, they knew it was something special – and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
Their wedding day reflected their values: family, love, good food and meaningful friendships. The couple chose to keep their bridal party intimate, with Michelles sister and best friend by her side and Nathan surrounded by close family members. A special highlight was the involvement of their cherished nephews – Myles, Elliot, Caleb and Charlie who played important roles in there ceremony.
As a wedding photographer, my videographer and I had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful first look in the garden’s lush surroundings before heading to the Terrace. The ceremony, wonderfully officiated by Fiona Garrivan, took place under clear autumn skies. Guests enjoyed gourmet canapés on the deck overlooking the lake, soaking up the golden light of a perfect Melbourne autumn afternoon before moving inside to the warm and elegant reception space.
The night ended on a magical note with a sparkler exit, before the happy couple jetted off on their honeymoon to Fiji and New Zealand.
Like so many of my couples, Nathan and Michelle opted for video coverage also. I had the talented Andrew from At Last film their day. They received all their formalities captured as well as a 5 minute highlight which encapsulates all the best bits. View their video highlight here:

Photography is a celebration of love, life, laughter and family. It is capturing the joy, the tears, the raw emotions and the connections with our loved ones. I love to photograph people and places, photography is not just my job, it’s my passion.
