Let’s face it, the choice of celebrants in Melbourne is overwhelming. And times have changed, once upon a time, it was the domain for retirees to fill their days with a rewarding job. Now, many younger celebrants have joined the foray. And why wouldn’t they, to be involved in arguably a couples’ best day of their life is pretty darn spesh!
There is a Melbourne celebrant that will fulfil your needs. At the very basic level, would you prefer a male or female, young or old, was appeals to you about their brand, the way they conduct themselves and their ceremony? Do they have religious elements they are able to incorporate with their ceremonies, would you prefer a non religious ceremony. Do they fit within budget? Would you prefer something quick and easy or a service that’s a little more in depth? With that said, I’ve narrowed down my favourite celebrants who I’ve worked with and I feel not just officiate a couples’ special day but really go above and beyond to deliver. So in no particular order, my top 16 are:
An all round creative with a BA in Music Theatre, a writer and comedian, one thing is for sure, boring ceremonies are an absolute no go when you choose Lucy Gransbury as your celebrant. She really knows how to bring your story together in a fun and engaging way!
Located in Bacchus Marsh, Love by Leish offers a modern and fresh approach to her wedding ceremonies. Covering the Melbourne and Ballarat and everywhere in between, fun organised and committed Leish could be your perfect choice for your Western suburban wedding.
Klara McClurry is the wonderful woman behind The Funky Celebrant She offers “weddings and funerals without the naff” and is a self proclaimed party starter! Klara will create something memorable, whether it be for her incredible wit and ability to tell a story or her loud and proud clothing choice, I’m not sure, but if you want someone bright and bubbly, then Klara’s your gal
Bubbly and extroverted, Jane Austin will go out of her way to make you feel special. Jane knew of Chris and Amy’s love of chocolate, in particular Kinder Suprises, so literally suprised them with their own kinder suprise eggs! If you think everyone looks a little drowned, it is because they are; a huge storm blew over in the middle of the ceremony and we were all rushed inside. But Jane didn’t fret about her equipment getting wet, or her hair being ruined, she just laughed it off. Her laughter and good humour is certainly infectious!
If you don’t immediately fall in love with Fiona Garrivan‘s beautiful Irish accent, you sure will her warm nature. Fiona immediately won me over with lollies on our first encounter and we have been firm friends ever since. Fiona has a really lovely way of making everyone she meets feel special. “We don’t remember days, we remember moments.”
You can’t miss this lovely lady in purple! Accompanied by her husband Tas, Helen from Marry me Helley will get to know you and even party the night away with you too! When Gemma reached out to me prior to a recent wedding, she sent me a full page rundown of the ceremony so I knew I was in for a treat. The ceremony she conducted included lots of quirky elements that really summed up the couple. A must for any couple looking for a unique and colourful ceremony!
Amber the celebrant‘s motto is “It’s not my wedding, it’s your wedding” Located in Eyensbury, halway between Geelong and Melbourne, Amber is in her element conducting rustic, winery and country weddings.

Keren Loyer Celebrant has tapped into a unique market. Speaking both Hebrew and English fluently, her specialty is being able to bring to life the Jewish traditions that are important to you in a non-religious way, by explaining to your guests the symbolism and meaning behind why we do what we do. I’ve personally loved getting to know Keren and her family and working with her on some family projects. Meeting and working with Keren is like being enveloped in a warm hug.
Melbourne Celebrant Julie‘s bio reads “mix of high end with my inner bogan” and I reckon this just about sums her up! With over 900 weddings under belt, she’s a seasoned professional who’ll guarantee your guests will not be bored during the ceremony! A natural story teller and ultimate all round awesome chick, Julie should be on your hit list.

If you’re after a sidesplittingly funny and fast paced ceremony that will have your guests in rolling around in laugher, then former TV presenter and weather reporter Mike Larkan is your guy. His quick wit and charisma is one of a kind.
Sally Hughes was a former wedding singer and business banker before moving into becoming a celebrant. Being a wedding singer for 15 years gave her a rare insight into the celebrant world and allowed her to conduct ceremonies that are interactive, enjoyable and memorable. Amassing many awards including 3 time ABIA Australia marriage celebrant of the year and 5 time ABIA Victoria celebrant of the year, Sally is hot property and typically books out months in advance.
